Welcome …

… to the Quantum Control Group at the Institute for Gravitational Physics in Hannover!

The Quantum Control group is located at the Institute for Gravitational Physics at the Leibniz Universität Hannover, which is also the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute). As the name “Quantum Control” implies, we are mainly interested in the continuous measurement and stabilisation of optical systems exhibiting noise at or below the quantum level. We are involved in the Centres of Excellence „Phoenix-D“ (Photonics, Optics, Engineering Innovation Across Disciplines) and „Quantum Frontiers” (Light and Matter at the Quantum Frontier). We are also involved in Quantum Valley Lower Saxony (QVLS)  in the node 5.6 „Quantum Machine Learning“.

Our research group was founded in July 2010 within the Centre for Quantum Engineering and Space-Time Research (QUEST), which now has the status of a faculty (QUEST-LFS). Until the end of its final funding period (2014) we received additional funding from the Sonderforschungsbereich Transregio 7 “Gravitationswellenastronomie”.
