Lars studied physics at the University of Bremen, completing both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Institute for Theoretical Physics.

During his Bachelor’s thesis he numerically investigated quantum dot systems and their multi-mode lasing capability.

The Master’s thesis shifted his focus from solid-state physics to bridging the gap between machine learning and physics. He investigated the state-of-the-art Transformer architecture responsible for large language models such as Claude and protein-structure tools such as AlphaFold using energy functions and fixed-point dynamics.

Lars joined the group as a PhD student in June 2026. His goal is to apply high-frequency squeezed light combs to generate cluster states with potential use as a continuous-variable resource for quantum computing.
