Alexander Wolf received his doctorate in mechanical engineering at the Institute of Product Development on the subject of “Laser based vehicle headlamps”. In this context, he has worked on the topics of vehicle technology, additive manufacturing (“3D printing”), prototype construction and lighting technology, including human physiology. He is a voting member of the PhoenixD Cluster of Excellence and co-editor of the cluster’s own scientific magazine.
After a stopover at the Hannover Centre for Optical Technologies, he is part of the QuantumControl team since 2023. In this role, he supervises the working group in Hannover, performs administrative tasks and develops approaches for the fabrication and characterisation of silicon mirrors for future gravitational wave detectors for the DZA. In this context, he is also part of the Astroparticle Physics team at DESY.
“Interdisciplinary work inspires me. As a mechanical engineer, I am happy to now be active in the field of experimental physics and to be able to support our team with my expertise. At the same time, this enables me to acquire new areas of knowledge. I am enthusiastic about building bridges between different disciplines (and people). That is why I am campaigning for comprehensible scientific communication, for example in the PhoenixD Cluster of Excellence.”
