Lorenz joined the group in the beginning of 2024 as a student assistant, where he mostly worked on lab automation projects. Following that, he completed his project work (Studienarbeit) on characterizing and improving an in-house electro-optic modulator design and his master’s thesis on digital control and nonlinear estimation for cavity locking.
In 2025 he rejoined the group for his PhD focused on identification, estimation, and control of quantum optical systems, where he is currently developing new optical system identification schemes to help demonstrate coherent technical noise cancelation (CTNC) and provide diagnostic information to ultimately implement and demonstrate coherent quantum noise cancelation (CQNC).
